![]() The present communication provides a brief overview of how chemistry education at the University, the premier national university of Botswana, has been transformed during the last three semesters. Moreover, writing mathematical equations, chemical reactions and reaction mechanisms posed their own difficulties. In a laboratory-based discipline such as chemistry the problems encountered were especially daunting. This posed many challenges, especially in the teaching of science and technology subjects. The most notable change was to replace face-to-face lectures with online teaching at least partially (blended teaching and learning). Thus, the virtual chem-lab is potentially used for further teaching-learning.ĬOVID-19-related disruption in teaching in the University of Botswana led the school to prepare new strategies for running classes and to design innovative way of instruction. The findings of this study reveal that the quality of the virtual chem-lab integrated hybrid learning is in a good category. The result of this assessment was descriptively analyzed to reveal the quality of the product. Product assessment was applied to 28 chemistry teachers, including content, learning quality, and technical quality aspects. The initial product of the virtual chem-lab was content validated by material and media experts. The development procedure used in this study consisted of four stages: analyzing, product planning, product developing, and product assessing being adapted from the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model. This research was a research and development study. This study aims to reveal the quality of virtual chemistry laboratory (virtual chem-lab) integrated into hybrid learning on chemical bonding. The development of information and communication technology has provided an innovation known as the virtual laboratory. It facilitates the experimental activity which supports the students' understanding. ![]() A laboratory has a very important role in learning chemistry.
